Year of World Heritage
The Foundation for Budapest World Heritage proposed that the Hungarian Parliament declare the year 2012 the Year of World Heritage in a parliamentary resolution. The celebration of the Year of World Heritage is an outstanding opportunity to improve the image of our country and restore its ruffled prestige by presenting our culture.
Örkény Year
In 2012 István Örkény’s 100th birthday is celebrated all over Hungary. On this occasion Hungarofest assembles and coordinates the events organized in the jubilee year and ensures a uniform umbrella-communication for the programmes of the anniversary. The goal is to have as many people as possible read Örkény’s volumes in the centennial year.
