Many private galleries have been founded in Budapest since the 1990s. Fans of contemporary arts are recommended to visit Király Street, while those who prefer antique should choose Falk Miksa Street. The most expensive Hungarian painting in the world (Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka's Encounter of Lovers) was also purchased at an auction in a gallery in Falk Miksa Street for HUF 230 million.

Themes of 2012
The Foundation for Budapest World Heritage proposed to declare the year 2012 the Year of World Heritage, because there are numerous anniversaries this year. There is another outstanding opportunity to commemorate the Hungarian cultural heritage, because in 2012 István Örkény’s 100th birthday is celebrated all over Hungary. Celebrations are held over 2012.
